Top Ten Tuesday is hosted and created by the lovely people over at The Broke and the Bookish and features a different topic each week for which you’re supposed to create a list of ten books (or things)! This week’s topic is Books I want To Read This Spring, so let’s get this list going!
A Conjuring Of Light
I have slowly been reading my way through the Shades Of Magic trilogy by VE Schwab since February and I cannot wait to finally complete the trilogy and see how everything wraps up in A Conjuring Of Light – though I have to say I am worried for all of these characters! I’ve reviewed both A Darker Shade Of Magic and A Gathering Of Shadows on the blog before, click here and here to read them!
A Court Of Wings And Ruin
I am a big fan of Sarah J. Maas’ A Court Of Thorns And Roses trilogy (especially ACOMAF at this point in time) and I am so ready to finally get my hands on the next (and last, I think) installment in this trilogy: A Court Of Wings And Ruin! The ending of A Court Of Mist And Fury was infuriating and awesome at the same time! I am counting down the days and hoping that my pre-order arrives in time (does anyone have experience with pre-orders from bookdepositry?)!
Born A Crime
In the months leading up to the US election last year, I came across videos of Trevor Noah hosting The Daily Show and I have really grown to like what he has to say and how he says it and I have learned bits and pieces about him and where he’s from. So when I learned that he had published Born A Crime and watched interviews about it, I was hooked! I can’t wait to read this and find out more about his childhood living in a country where his existence was considered a crime because of his heritage. It sounds really fascinating!
Lord Of Shadows
I think this comes as no surprise to most of you who have been reading our blog, seeing how I am quite the Shadowhunters Universe fan! Before I read Lord Of Shadows I will probably also re-read Lady Midnight because I like having the events of previous books fresh in my mind when I move on to the next book in a series and I feel like I have already forgotten most of what happened! I can’t wait to be reunited with the Carstairs and Blackthorns and see how the story unfolds further – especially with what happened at the very end of Lady Midnight!
Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy / The Bane Chronicles
Continuing with the whole Shadowhunters Universe talk, I also really want to finally read Tales Froom The Shadowhunters Academy and The Bane Chronicles. I just can’t quite decide which one I want to read first. Especially since I haven’t finished my re-read of The Mortal Instruments yet and I am kind of holding off until I do that so I am familiar with all of the characters and events before I dive into the novellas for the first time! There is going to be so much from this universe in my reading this year and I am loving even just the thought of it!
The Bear And The Nightingale
The Bear And The Nightingale hits all of my marks for a book that sounds intriguing to me! It’s set in Russia and is a retelling of Russian folklore! I have seen this book around bookstagram and on a couple of blogs recently and I am just so curious to see if I will enjoy this book! I haven’t read anything set in Russia or influenced by Russian culture in ages! It’s about time, I think.
The Hate U Give
I have been thinking and talking about The Hate U Give since I created my February releases post back at the end of January and now it’s the middle of March already and I still haven’t gotten my copy of this book! I just want to get my hands on this book and start reading it. Is it really that difficult to just deliver it to me already?
The Night Circus
Back when Caraval was first released so, so many people compared it to The Night Circus and since I did really enjoy Caraval (I talk more about it in my review) I definitely want to read The Night Circus too! I have since heard people who absolutely love The Night Circus and have read Caraval say that The Night Circus is better, so I am excited! I haven’t read many books (or any apart from Caraval) set in a circus so I can’t wait to expand my list of books featuring this element!
This Savage Song
After having only read two books by VE Schwab (or Victoria Schwab) I am already 100% convinced that I want to read the rest of her published work too! And This Savage Song sounds so interesting and the concept of criminal acts manifesting themselves in monsters? How awesome does that sound?! Also, there is apparently no romance!
Wires And Nerve
Lastly, we have Marissa Meyer’s newest release and what would be a new form of media for me when it comes to reading: graphic novel Wires and Nerve! I really adored the character of Iko in The Lunar Chronicles and I cannot wait to see her go on adventures of her own but also be reunited with everyone from The Lunar Chronicles! This is hopefully going to be a fun read!
There you have it! A list of ten books that I hope to read this spring! Have you read any of them? If so, which ones should be priority reads? Let me know in the comments and let’s discuss the awesomeness of the books you have read!
Both The Night Circus and The Hate U Give are absolutely EVERYTHING. Happy reading!

I honestly can’t wait to get my hands on both those books! They seem to be very loved by the book community!

So many of these reads are on my TBR! The Night Circus is a slow book but it’s sooo good! It would be amazing to see a movie adaptation of it

If its a slow one, I might have to read something else before I jump into it after reading VE Schwab books lately. I am slowly getting annoyed by the slowness of things. But I hope the fact that it’s a good read will make up for the slowness! 😀

I’m looking forward to so many of these! 🙂

This is such a good tbr! I really need to read the night circus and the hate you give as well, I’ve heard nothing but good things about them both 😁

I’m so curious to see how much of this I’ll actually have read by the end of spring!

Great choices! I also really want to read ACOL, Born a Crime, and This Savage Song although I doubt I’ll get to any of them soon 😛 I’m reading THUG right now and even though I’m not very far into it yet, I’m already really enjoying it. Hope you’re able to get it soon!

Knowing myself, I probably won’t get to most of them any time soon either.. apart from the Sarah J Maas and Cassandra Clare books!
I’ve seen so many people’s updates on THUG and its all been positive! I am stoked!

Adding my two sense here, The Night Circus is definitely better than Caraval. I didn’t think that the world in Caraval was described clearly enough so in my head I saw it as the world from The Night Circus. At times it gets a little heavy in object description but, at least for me, it just adds a little extra to the story. Once you read it I can’t wait to see your review!

Thank you for sharing your opinion too! I really can’t wait to get my hands on this one! I really hope I’ll at least end up liking the book!

Great list! A lot of these are on my TBR too. I’m so excited for Lord of Shadows. And I hope you like Shadowhunter Academy! It gave me so much feels, and made me cry more than once ugh.

I definitely like the sound of that! And apparently if I had read the short stories before Lady Midnight I would’ve seen the plot twist coming too as it was mentioned in the novellas, but I liked that I went into Lady Midnight completely blind to anything. 😀

Yes, haha it tells you about why *character* was actually a Herondale haha.

The Bear and the Nightingale is AMAZING! I also agree on The Night Circus being better than Caraval, although I did not enjoy Caraval that much 😛 Happy reading!

Ah, that makes me so excited for TBATN! I need all the encouragement I can get since I’m in the weirdest mood when it comes to reading right now! So this has me excited at least!

I also want to read The Bear and The Nightingale, probably this month if I could get to it!

I hope you’ll be able to get to it! I’ve had quite a few people tell me how good that book is! Hopefully we can both read it soon!

Great picks, Swetlana! I also want to read The Bear and the Nightingale, The Hate U Give, The Night Circus and Wires and Nerve. The Night Circus, especially, has been on my TBR since FOREVER but I just can’t seem to find the motivation to read it, despite the glowing reviews. And The Hate U Give is such an important book – I hope to start that one by the end of this month. 🙂
Also crossing my fingers that you’d love ACOL! I’m still in a book hangover from reading that one. ❤

I’ve seen The Night Circus pop up everywhere over the years that I’ve been watching Booktube or following bookstagram accounts but it never seemed to spike my interest enough – until I read Caraval, so I can’t wait to read it!
My copy of THUG should arrive by the end of this week (finally) and hopefully I can jump right into it! I’ve been thinking about it for months now and it’s insane that I still haven’t held it in my hands!
I really hope so too! I might pick it up tonight and see if I am in the mood to actually read! 😀

Yes, it definitely has similar vibes to Caraval, doesn’t it? Equally mysterious and magical. 😊
Ahhh I hope it lives up to expectations! I need to finish off some books before I get to THUG, so for now I’ll just live vicariously through other people. 😂

That russian folklore book sounds really interesting! I have not seen any book like that around book blogs before! And night circus sounds really cool too. Does that tmi book contain stories with the characters from tmi? or tid?. I don’t think I ever checked that one out before. (Before the bind up came out. I didn’t wanna buy 7 tiny books)

Right? I randomly stumbled upon The Bear And The Nightingale one day and I was hooked (also, that COVER) and I do have a soft spot for Russian influences in books, so I was obviously sold! 😀
Which TMI book do you mean? Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy? I can’t tell you much about it, to be honest. All I know is that we follow Simon at the Academy and I think we learned something that came into play in Lady Midnight (at least if I remember correctly from the Lady Midnight booktalks I watched last year). I haven’t read too much about either of the novella bind-ups because I wanted to go in as blind as possible and experience them with fresh eyes! 🙂

But why does Simon end up there? He’s not a shadowhunter. I’m a bit confused. I might get that one too. Maybe there’s some good stuff in it

I have no idea, to be honest. I don’t remember the ending of City Of Heavenly Fire or why he would be there..

I definitely want to read History is All You Left Me, but I’ve heard it’s very sad, so I’m nervous!!

I have that on my radar too and the synopsis is very intriguing but also potentially very sad! I do want to read that one too!

Such a great list! I hope you’ll be able to stick to it. I really want to read ACOL soon. I am both impatient and a bit nervous to read it because it will mean this is the end of a great series and well…I don’t know if I am ready ahah 🙂 I really want to read The Hate U Give and The Night Circus, both sound SO good. And YAY for Wires and Nerves! I recently read it and loved it so much, hope you’ll feel the same way 🙂

Knowing myself? I probably won’t read most of these books… apart from the ACOWAR and Lord Of Shadows. Those two are SET IN STONE.
I don’t know how I feel about finishing/reading ACOL either. Like, it was such a fun world and I just last month got into this series so I haven’t gotten to live in it and feel all the things for too long which is really sad! But from the sounds of it, ACOL is a GREAT book. People seem to jump straight into a re-read once they finish it!
I really hope I’ll enjoy Wires And Nerve too! Would be a shame if I didn’t. Especially since I really enjoyed The Lunar Chronicles!

Well…you can always wait a couple months before reading ACOL, that way it doesn’t have to end so soon 😀
I think if you liked The Lunar Chronicles you should enjoy that one just as well 🙂

A Conjuring of Light was so good! This Savage Song was on my list this week too. I liked Caraval and actually wasn’t a big fan of The Night Circus, but maybe you’ll like it better than I did.
