Earlier, I was hanging out at my parents’ and was having a browse through Twitter and stumbled upon some giveaways both Stephanie Garber (click here) and Melissa Albert (click here) were doing and somewhere in the middle of that, I came across a thread by Amanda Foody (the author of the upcoming Daughter Of The Burning City).
I’m sure you’re thinking ‘Don’t you come across threads by people quite often? What was so great about this one?’, well, let me tell you!
Recently, people have been posting to Twitter asking others to like a particular tweet and then they’d share different facts about themselves or do mood boards for characters, etc. which in itself is such a fun thing to read! But Amanda decided to share a new fact about her next release Ace Of Shades (releasing April 2018) for every like. I saw her initial tweet and then spend a good half an hour reading through all of her facts and I loved every second of it!
Ace Of Shades sounds like a freaking awesome novel and I am most definitely super excited about it – and I haven’t even read Amanda’s first book yet (but I want to, SO badly)!
Here are some highlights in case you don’t want to read all of those tweets (her initial tweet has 89 likes as I’m writing this post!):
Out of the four novels she talks about here I loved two. And I especially loved Six Of Crows and this story really does have a strong SOC vibe and I am loving it!
I can’t wait to see all of this play out!
Levi is definitely giving me really strong Kaz vibes and I swear, I want to read this book right now! I can’t wait to see how she writes the character and if he’ll have more similarities with Kaz – even if Kaz could apparently kill him.
I’m 99% sure I’ve never read a book about a culture that is run by organized crime so I am most definitely excited about this aspect of her story! Also, casinos! Is it wrong of me to hope that she throws in a Jesper type of character gambling away at the casinos? Or is Levi a bit of a Jesper too?
Basically, I’m kind of picturing Moulin Rouge but with less bright colors (at least, that’s how I seem to remember the movie – don’t quote me on it) and lots of things going on behind the scenes none of which are probably good.
I think you might know how much I enjoy a storyline about someone learning to be a better person while the other person turns into someone they might not be able to recognize anymore.
When I saw this I had to smile! I love how she drew inspiration from this and then applied it to her world!
I hear of three different gangs that are recognizable by some trait and my brain goes ‘The monsters in VE Schwab’s Monsters Of Verity!’, but I can’t wait to see who these gang members are! I also almost immediately feel like I might really enjoy the character of Reymond!
And that’s what I call dedication to your craft!
So yes, basically I read all of Amanda’s tweets and rushed to Goodreads to make sure I remembered to add her Ace Of Shades to my ever growing list of unreleased books!
What do you guys think of these tweets? Did any of them convince you to add this book to your TBR? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
