Recently it has really felt like everyone is reading books I’ve already read and (for the most part) loved which basically results in me sitting there and reading all of the reading updates going ‘I really want to read that book again!’ – which is exactly how this post idea was born! Don’t you just love when that happens?! Let’s not ramble on too much and instead get right into this post!
PS: Click on the cover image to get to the series’ page on Goodreads!
The Lunar Chronicles
There is actually currently a group read going on over on Goodreads of people reading the series and whenever I see one of the reading updates I immediately want to pick up my copies of the books and join everyone in reading them. But. I have too many other books I want/need to read first and I can’t really justify re-reading a beloved series at the moment which makes me really sad, actually. I do really love this series and all of its characters and even though I just finished the series last year I’m definitely ready for that re-read sometime soon!
The Raven Cycle
With the recent news about Syfy picking up this series for a tv show, The Raven Cycle has definitely been talked about more again and I’m just once again really want to jump back into this world and be reunited with these characters! But I also want to mark up my copies with all of the tabs, highlighted passages and notes! I did do some tabbing, but nothing compared to what I do these days! I might make it my mission to re-read all of my favorite books so I can mark them all up and have the opportunity to look back on them down the line and see exactly what I loved about them!
The Shadowhunter Chronicles
I’ve actually already started my re-read of these books (this includes The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifices) but I haven’t really made any progress since I finished Clockwork Angel because other books had to be read and it seems like things might continue that way for the next few months too! But I definitely want to continue on my re-read of this and spend so much more time with all of these characters and then finally read (or listen to) both novella bind-ups!
Actually, earlier I randomly decided to take a look at City Of Ashes and City Of Glass and re-read some of my highlighted passages and I was so happy to be able to take a look at why I had marked those scenes! I can’t wait until all of my Cassandra Clare books are all marked up like that!
A Court Of Mist And Fury
You might be wondering why on earth I would want to re-read this book already seeing how I just finished a re-read at the beginning of May but I just miss the awesomeness that is ACOMAF? I love that book with everything I have and it might have stolen the #1 spot from Clockwork Princess as favorite book. Yep, it’s that serious. Obviously, I can’t get enough of it, right? I mean, we all know how much I talk about Clockwork Princess in this blog!
Legend Trilogy
If you read my most recent haul, you know that I just got a copy of Prodigy and that I plan on re-reading the trilogy once I own all the books and I am honestly excited but also a bit scared about re-reading this trilogy? Because what if I don’t enjoy it as much as I used to? I don’t want to dampen my previous reading experience with negative feelings! But I also want to get familiar with Marie Lu’s writing again in preparation for the release of Batman: Nightwalker (I don’t even really care about Batman but it’s Marie Lu, so obviously I want to read it!).
Do you guys ever worry about not enjoying a favorite book anymore once you re-read it? How do you go about that fear? Please share some tips with me!
Six Of Crows Duology
Can you believe I actually almost forgot to include this series on my list??? What is wrong with me?! This has been on my mind so much these past few days because people on my Goodreads timeline are reading it and sharing all of their feelings and I want to do it too! It hasn’t even been a full year since I read this book and I know that I don’t want to relive some of the moments from it, but I do really miss this gang of characters almost more than any other cast of characters (excluding the Inner Circle – they’ve stolen my heart for good)!
How about you?
Are there any series or books currently on your radar that you really want to re-read? Do you wonder about whether or not you will still enjoy a book if you re-read years after reading it for the first time? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
I recently finally finished a reread of Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, 6 years after I first read it & was that an experience. Like??? I still remembered major plot lines & loved the characters dearly but at the same time it lowkey felt like reading it for the first time???
Anyway now I wanna reread Six of Crows which…………….. would be a Terrible choice given how much i was crying throughout that lmao………

That’s how I felt during my re-read of The Infernal Devices! While I knew the major plot points, everything else was still really new and it was a great experience for sure!
DO IT. Crying can be a great thing!

I am so ashamed to admit I have not read any of these series! I have only read Cinder and The Raven Boys but didn’t read the other books! I need to change that!

What do you mean, Kristin??? You should absolutely read all of them!

I really want to re-red The Lunar Chronicles and The Raven Boys series at some point as well, I loved both so much π Great post! β€

We just simply need a few more hours each day to fit in all of that reading we want to do! Otherwise we’ll probably never finish reading or re-reading all those books on our lists. π
Thank you, Marie!

I don’t re-read books too often but I’ve been itching to re-read The Lunar Chronicles as well!

I’m trying to decide between reading the Raven Cycle and SIx of Crows… which would you recommend?

Oh this is difficult! Especially since Six Of Crows is a spinoff and is missing some of the world building that you would expect in a fantasy world! But if you don’t mind, go for Six Of Crows!

From your list I’ve only actually read The Shadowhunter Chronicles but I own/want to read all of these (except Legend trilogy because I’ve never heard of it!) I think I’m going to start on Six of Crows first. Once Pat Rothfuss announces a release date for book 3 I want o re-read the The Kingkiller Chronicles. π

Six Of Crows is definitely a good book to start with! π
And I keep hearing about people waiting for him to release a date for that third book! Hopefully you’ll get one soon!

I don’t usually reread unless I’ve completely forgotten what’s happened in a book π But I did finish the Lunar Chronicles at the beginning of this year and now I miss Thorne so I may go back and reread it all over again.

I usually forgot almost anything that has happened in a book and then when it’s time for the sequel I just end up being really confused! xD Thorne was so awesome! I loved every second we got to spend with him!

I still need to read all of these, hahaha. I read The Raven Boys, but haven’t finished the series. And I read The Infernal Devices, but not the other series.

You should 100% get to all of them – obviously! π

I don’t usually have time to re-read stuff, but I’ve really been wanting to dive back into the world of the Vampire Academy. I absolutely loved Rose and Dimitri.
Also, I really want to read the Raven Cycle of the first time – I hear nothing but wonderful things about the series, I really need to marathon it one of these days.

Oh! I can’t believe I didn’t think of Vampire Academy! I used to love that series SO much the first two or three times I read it! I’m just worried I won’t love it as much anymore now that I’m much older.
There is going to be a tv-show at some point in the future, so you could try to read it by then. But just as a note, when you do read it and find it not as easy to get into – give it some time! It actually took me a second try to fully get into the story and series! But it was definitely worth it!

I’m exactly the same way. That’s always my fear when I pick a book back up that I’ve loved. I’m always afraid it will lose a little bit of the original magic.
I didn’t know that – sounds like I need to pick that up sooner rather than later!!

I have been itching to reread ACOMAF as well! But I’m trying to hold off until I read some more new-to-me books. I do miss that awesomeness!

I’m currently reading both Harry Potter and the Raven Cycle for the first time. I was so nervous about them because of the hype but so far I adore both! I had no idea The Raven Cycle was becoming a series, but it definitely seems like the type of book that would make a great adaptation. I love the idea of having all your favorite books marked up. However, I personally always struggle with what I want to mark and how I want to go about it. Maybe you could do a post explaining how you do it! π

I still haven’t started on Harry Potter for that very reason! I keep looking at buying the books but then I go for something else instead. I’m really happy to hear that you are enjoying both series so far! π
That is a really great post idea! I might just have to do it in the upcoming weeks, thanks for the great idea, Nikki! π

Yes, same! I want all the Inner Circle I can get! I really hope we get more of them in any of the upcoming books because I will be really sad if the ACOTAR was the last time we saw them!
