Lately, I’ve really been feeling like writing these kinds of list posts on different topics (lies bookworms tell, for example) because they are always super fun to put together and write. But most importantly for me right now: they are easy posts. I am still trying to get back into my writing groove and I feel like these posts are really helping me with it so I hope you guys don’t mind too much. I promise there will be other posts too! I’m working on a few ideas at the moment!
Anyways, for today’s post, I wanted to talk about all of the things we as book bloggers constantly find ourselves doing and while not all of us do all of these things (I know I don’t), I am sure we do at least a handful of them!
Your TBR List Is Really Long And It Continues To Grow
I have definitely always been a reader and my TBR has never really been small, but ever since I started this blog and my monthly release posts, I have to say my TBR has grown more and quicker too! But obviously, I’m not the only blogger out here talking about new releases so that adds to my TBR too and before I know it, I have added at least another handful of books to my already really long TBR.
You Get Up Early To Take Advantage Of Great Lighting
Those of you guys who take and use photos on your blogs are probably more familiar with this aspect of blogging than me, but I wanted to make sure to include this nonetheless. Because you guys put in really hard work to get those perfect pictures and as far as I’ve seen and heard, you will even give up precious sleep to get the perfect lighting! I couldn’t do that. I need my sleep.
You Are Constantly Trying To Think Up New And Interesting Posts
As bloggers, we are constantly trying to come up with ideas on what to post about next and constantly seeking inspiration in every corner possible – I actually shared 6 places you might want to check out! And sometimes inspiration hits us at the most inconvenient times (mid-shower! perfect timing…) and we scramble to make sure that we write said idea down because it’s going to be lost forever otherwise.
Your Friends/Siblings Occasionally Get Drawn Into The Fun
If the people in your life know about your blogs, you might have pulled them into the fun at some point – I know I have! My sister has done the US vs. UK Cover Tag on my blog before and it was really fun to get her involved in some way. I recently had a fun idea for a different tag, but neither one of my siblings wanted to be on camera to do it, so that didn’t happen.
You Spend Hours Upon Hours Working On Your Posts And Blog
When I first started this blog, I had no idea how much time I would end up putting into writing posts and the design of the blog – all I know is I didn’t expect it to be as much as it ends up being. Some posts are much quicker to write, format and edit while others will take forever (reviews, I’m looking at you) and then there’s obviously your blog’s theme that needs attention and editing from time to time!
You Suddenly End Up With 20 New Tabs To Check Out
This is definitely one of the most fun things for me: reading a blog and suddenly you realize that you have all of these new posts/blogs to check out! While I was working on a different post and doing some research, I basically ended up with the above mentioned 20 open tabs. I’m so glad Chrome decided to work properly through it all!
You Get Angry About Books Being A Different Height
Actually, this problem (if you want to call it that) started long before this blog but I feel like it might have gotten worse since. I am definitely someone who likes their books in a series to match in height and so whenever I buy a sequel and it doesn’t match the previous book, I will get rather angry. I still haven’t bought Ruin And Rising because I’m afraid it won’t match either of my previous books in the trilogy. The struggle is real you guys.
You Can Guess A Book By Touch Alone
As someone who loves books a lot and spends a good amount of time holding them (while reading or otherwise), I have definitely developed the ability to guess my books by their covers with my eyes closed. I have seen many people do it on YouTube and recently made my siblings pick books off my shelves that I had to guess – I did pretty well!
You’re Overwhelmed By The Amount Of New Releases Coming Your Way
As I mentioned above, I’ve been writing monthly posts for new releases and I never realized just how many books were released some months (that are up my alley) and now I find myself being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of books I want to read in just the next two months. I think I’m up to almost 20 books? Yeah. And if you guys are in he same position and need same tips, I’ve got you (and myself) covered!
You Find Yourself Staring At A Book Rather Than Reading It
This right here might be the most annoying thing that happens to me. I will get a book in the mail that I have been waiting so long for and suddenly I just find myself staring at the book rather than actually reading it? When I’ve been impatiently waiting for it. It continues to make no sense to me whatsoever.
You Can’t Find The Words To Describe Why You Loved A Book
Do you ever finish reading a book, open that blank post template to write your review and find yourself unable to form coherent sentences? It’s like any and all words have just completely disappeared from your vocabulary. You know you loved the book. And you knew what you were going to say before you opened that template. But now everything is just gone. This happens to me way too often and I’m actually still trying to write a coherent review for Dear Martin but I am stuck. No words.
Your Shelves Seem To Always Run Out Of Space
Having no shelf space isn’t 100% a new issue for me either, as I’ve always loved to read and own a good amount of books, but I’ve definitely been buying (and reading!) more books since I started this blog and I constantly try to think of new ways to stack my books to give myself more shelf space because I don’t really have anywhere I can put a new bookshelf and I have to make do with whatever space I have. Or I need to move books into boxes and I don’t like that.
You Constantly Want To Include Your Favorite Book In All Your Posts
I feel like we all love to talk about the things that make us happy and as book bloggers those things are books! And who doesn’t want to mention their favorite book at any given moment? I know I will! In fact, I’m sure a good deal of you guys are tired of me talking about Clockwork Princess or ACOMAF in every other post but I just love those two books so much? And yes, I might have included this point just to talk about those two books. I’m not sorry either.
Your Bank Account Seems To Empty Itself Miraculously
Oh, my poor bank account! Blogging really did quite a number on it! Again, I’ve bought books before and everything, but not in the dimensions as I am doing it some months now. One thing that has changed from before is the fact that I buy used books now too! Especially of older releases and I get to save a ton of money that way!
Did you guys find yourselves nodding along to this list? Did any of these signs catch you off guard or were you well aware that you were doing them all? Are you a book blogger? Let’s chat in the comments below!
