Wrap Up: September 2017

Evening, you guys! How are you all doing today? Did this past weekend treat you well? Did you do a lot of reading? I sure hope future me finished at least another book this month because I kind of didn’t do a lot of reading – as you are about to find out. And if you’re wondering why I’m talking about future me here?

Well, I’m writing this post on Wednesday night and it’s going to go up today, on Monday. I mean, I was suddenly in the mood to write a blog post again, so I went for it and since the next two posts are already scheduled, Monday is the next available slot!

Would you look at that, I’m already a hundred words into this post and all I’ve done so far is rambled. Okay… *concentrates*, let’s get this started!

books i read

they both die at the end

You guys. I finally did it! I read my first Adam Silvera book! This was the first book I finished this month and it didn’t happen until the 23rd. Yep, I marked my first book as ‘Read’ a week before the month was officially over but we’ve talked about my obsession with Netflix’ Marvel shows a couple of times throughout various posts this month, so I don’t think we have to go too deep into that. The important thing here is that I finally read an Adam Silvera book, not the one I said I would read – but at least it’s the author I wanted to read, right?

And if you’re looking at that rating and wondering ‘WHAT THE HELL, SWETLANA?!’ because of the rather low rating (compared to everything else you might have seen). Well, what should I say? I liked the book! And the writing. And the characters – especially Rufus! I loved his voice so much! And good lord did Adam have me stressed for a good chunk of the book! Things we happening so fast and characters were about to collide and I was reading this book like

no no no did i mention no

It was an experience, that’s for sure! And the good thing? I know I want to read more of Adam’s books now! Luckily for me, there are two more releases out there already! YAY.

down among the sticks and bones

And then once I was actually in the mood to read again (aka I had caught up with the majority of the Marvel shows that I wanted to watch) I finally finished reading Down Among The Sticks And Bones! It’s only been sitting on my ‘Currently Reading’ shelf for months. But!!! I am so glad I decided to pick this back up and finish it! This is such an awesome books and sends so, so, so many fantastic messages about gender, gender roles and the pressures put on someone and how those can affect us. I loved this. Jack and Jill (but mostly Jack, for me) were such fascinating characters to follow!

If you follow me on here or my Goodreads, you might have seen me talk about Every Heart A Doorway and how I did enjoy it, but how I also wanted to get to explore the worlds these characters go to – and we finally did that! We actually went to the Moors with Jack and Jill and got to experience them a little bit! I should probably also mention that this is more of a prequel to the first book and features a female/female relationship!

I also read about 250 pages of Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy but since I haven’t finished it (as of writing this post) yet, I will include it in next month’s wrap-up! I just wanted to mention it because I didn’t do that much reading this month overall (compared to other months) and I want to make sure I take record of any reading I’ve done. ๐Ÿ™‚

books i bought

daughter of the burning cityย After basically not shutting up about this books for months or weeks, I was finally able to purchase the edition I wanted! Which is the UK paperback. I pretty much fell in love with this book cover the second I first saw it and then I had to (im)patiently wait for the UK release. I mean, I did get the audiobook before, but I didn’t allow myself to listen to it. My plan has been to read and listen along from the get go! And now that I finally have this book in my possession? Well… I just keep staring at it. It’s even on my bed. It’s right there. I can touch it while writing this post. But I still haven’t started reading it. Don’t ask me why. I have no idea. But soon.

I need to know what this is all about – especially since I keep tweeting Amandy Foody about how excited I am for her next book (add Ace Of Shades on Goodreads RIGHT NOW. And if you need convincing, please read this post I did a while back) whenever she shares more info about it. I am so hooked by the premise. If anyone wants to kick my ass to read this already, it’d be highly appreciated!

what i posted

And now it’s time for a monthly recap of some of the posts I posted that either you guys really enjoyed or I had a ton of fun writing (or both, in most cases!).

And if you want to check out more of September’s posts, just click here! There are quite a few more and some more really fun ones too! And no, you’re not seeing wrong. I did write quite a few posts that included numbers this month! I don’t know how that happened, it kind of just did. And there’s still more in the link I just shared.

lets chat 1

Now, you guys! Did you have a good reading month? Were you happy with the books you read? Which one was your absolute favorite?

Do you ever find yourself writing majorly a certain type of post one month? Unintentionally, that is? Because I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that so many of my posts were all about a number of different things.

And lastly, I need you guys’ input! I am completely torn on what new release I should read next and I figured I would ask you guys for a vote in the comments! Please choose between these:

  • Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
  • Warcross by Marie Lu
  • Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
  • All The Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater

I obviously want to read them all at some point, so I’m good with whatever book you guys end up choosing for me!

[Narrator from the future (probably): she never read the book.]

    1. I’ve finished reading it since writing this post and while I did enjoy it overall, it wasn’t really anything that is going to stand out probably. But I did really, really love the chapter when we met baby Max and everything that was said about Alec in it! I love the guy with all my heart!

Thanks for the vote on Wonder Woman! I can’t wait to see how this vote is going to go!
