Hey you guys! How are you all doing? I hope you’ve had a fantastic day so far and that daylight savings didn’t mess with your day too much! I thought for today’s post I would be talking about the various types of readers that exist and see which ones you guys identify with most! I hope you enjoy them!
Reads Fifteen Books At Once Because They Can’t Decide On One
This reader will often be found picking up a book, reading a couple of chapters and then deciding that ‘You know what? Maybe this isn’t quite it.’ which inevitably leads to them picking up another book. And another one. And yet another one. Because they just can’t decide on what they want to read and nothing seems to be quite right.
Can’t Decide Which Book To Pick Up So They Don’t Read Anything
Now, this reader has the complete opposite problem! They really, really want to read a book and just one book but they just can’t decide what it is exactly that they want to read, so they just don’t pick up anything. And if they are really unlucky? This might lead to the very dreaded *whispers* reading slump */whispers*.
I feel like we should make it a rule that we are not allowed to speak of the thing like it’s You-Know-Who.
Has Too Many Unread Books On Their Shelves But Needs To Buy More Because They Don’t Want To Read Any Of The Books They Already Own
This is the reader I aspire to be. I want to have all the unread books on my shelves I could ever want but still not be happy with my possibilities for a next read so I buy even more new books. But money, you guys. Money. There’s just simply never enough of it. But even with the limited amount of unread books on my shelves – I seem to never want to actually pick them up? And instead go for something else entirely.
Is Always Found With A Book In Their Hands – Physical Or Otherwise
I feel like this is the type of reader who would make a perfect friend (like all the others one too, obviously! Any type of reader is a great friend!) because they’ll love reading about as much as you do and they’ll probably love sharing their love of reading with you any given time. Well, obviously not while they are reading because no one wants to be distracted when they are trying to just have a good time, right? Respect that, people.
Will Miss Their Stop Because They Are Too Deep Into Their Book
If I weren’t as paranoid about missing my bus stop as I am, I would 100% be this person. Because who cares if you have to walk a little bit further if you got to finish that fantastic scene that just took up all of your attention??? I would walk back quite a bit just to do that! Also, do you guys realize how difficult it was to not go with ‘I would walk 500 miles’ just there??? I actually did go for that, but then decided that ‘No. I would not actually go THAT far for a book. #sorry’.
Prefers The Company Of A Great Book To Actual Human Beings – Most Of The Time
See, this is 100% me about 90% of the time. If there aren’t cute and tiny humans involved (aka my adorable nephews) I will probably stay home and just read some more rather than go out and do stuff. Yup. I am that committed to my books but also my cute nephews.
I also feel like I just found the song that perfectly sums up my relationship with most human beings and it was delivered to me by the oh so wonderful Irish human being that is Niall Horan and the song is called On My Own. If you haven’t checked out his album yet, please do it? It’s freaking awesome. I haven’t been able to stop listening to it since it came out. That’s how good it is.
Don’t take it to heart
Your company’s fine
But I get on better with mine
Talks About Fictional Characters Like They Are Real Life Human Beings
Most of us who use the internet quite frequently and have made friends all over the world probably talk about them in our everyday life like they are people we have spend time with in person even when we haven’t. And well, this type of reader talks exactly like that but about actual fictional characters. You wouldn’t believe that character XY wasn’t fictional that how well this reader knows them!
Refers To Their Favorite Characters As Their Child/Children
See, this reader lives the fangirl life to the fullest and picks up all the lingo that the young ones use these days (I am known to pick up a thing or two too even though I’m basically a grandma) and obviously they refer to their favorite characters as their children! And they are very, very protective of them. Don’t you dare cross them! You might wanna run off and hide if you say anything negative about their favorite characters.
I mean, you wouldn’t want to talk negatively about say Matthew Daddario, Tyler Hoechlin or Matt Murdock to me. I don’t know if we could be friends if you did that. I just. No. And yes, my protectiveness includes real-life human beings that I’ve never met before too. What can I say? I’m a fangirl at heart.
Can Quote Their Favorite Book Like No One Else
We’re once again going to talk about a type of reader I so wish I was but I’m just not. My memory sucks. So, so much. We’ve talked about me being a grandma just now and I this goes right along with that. I usually have trouble remembering what the plot of a book was – let alone any quotes. Honestly, I just can’t. But I do admire people who can quote their favorite book like it’s the easiest thing out there! Share your tricks with me, maybe?
Rereads The Same Book A Million Times Because Why Not?!
Honestly, I love this type of reader so much because I know exactly why they reread the same book over and over again. It’s so much fun and you get to discover new things about your favorite books and characters and you can concentrate on new things during your tenth reread! While new books and their possibility of becoming your favorite are fantastic, there is nothing quite like the comfort of your favorite book and this reader knows it!
Never Shuts Up About Their Favorite Book/Series
See, this reader has found the one book or series that they just can’t shut up about and that they want everyone and their grandma to read because it’s just so freaking awesome and why haven’t you read it? I am most definitely this reader when it comes to Cassandra Clare’s The Infernal Devices or Amanda Foody’s Ace Of Shades (which I haven’t even read yet but the book just sounds so freaking good???).
But actually, this was inspired by the lovely Jackie who never shuts up about how much she loves Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series! But I didn’t just want to give her a shoutout because of her undying love for Shatter Me, but also because it’s her birthday today and I figured she deserves all the love – so, you guys! Head on over to her blog and wish her a Happy Birthday!
You guys, it is time to be real with yourself and me here! What type of reader are you? Are you just one specific type or are you a bunch of them combined? Are you ALL of these types of readers? Let me know in the comments below!
And also, make sure you head over to Jackie’s blog and wish her a happy birthday! Go. Do it.
