My original plan for my TBR Spotlight posts was to do them at least bi-weekly, but then I realized that would be too much and instead I decided to post the monthly. Which hasn’t really happened either – my last one was in August! So, for today’s post I decided to I would take a look at some of the 2017 releases that I was really excited about but haven’t had a chance to read – yet! I want to get to at least half of them by the end of 2017!
Let’s start this list with the 2017 release that I am currently reading (finally, I might add): Strange The Dreamer! I’ve had this one sitting on my shelves for a few months now but never really picked it up until the other day and I don’t even know what lead me to pick it up? I just did. So far, so good I would say but I’m also only a hundred pages into the book so we’ll see whether I’ll end up liking it as much as everyone else seems to do! What I can say though is that I really like Laini Taylor’s writing style in this one and it has me curious to see how it differs to her Daughter Of Smoke And Bone trilogy! And since we all know how bad I am at summarizing books, please click the cover image to be brought to the Goodreads page – and make sure to add it to your TBR once you are over there! 😉
You may remember that I read They Both Die At The End by Adam earlier this year and while I liked it – I didn’t absolutely love it like so many other readers. But! I really enjoyed Adam’s writing style and TBDATE was such a quick read, that I definitely want to check out Adam’s other works too which is why I have History Is All You Left Me on my list once again – this time knowing that I like Adam’s writing.
I also barely read any books by male authors or featuring male protagonists so this is going to be a nice change of things for me too!
With this book, I feel really horrible because I was accepted for a review copy of this back in August and then I never actually ended up reading it. Somehow, I had lost interest in The Library Of Fates and it keeps bugging me that I haven’t read and reviewed this yet – especially because I was really looking forward to receiving the copy in the mail and being able to read it so soon! But it’s crept back into my interests lately since I’ve been reading so many fantastic books and I’m on a reading high, so hopefully, I’ll finally get to it and can send the publisher my review – even though it’s months too late.
Up next on my list I have Autoboyography! I don’t even remember how this one caught my attention initially, but with that cover and a synopsis that sounded really intriguing – I had to add it to my TBR! And from what I have read or heard about this book the representation in it is fantastic and a lot of people were really able to relate to both, the Mormon life aspect as well as the LGBT+ representation! By including this on my list, I also want to make sure you guys hear about this book if you haven’t yet as it sounds amazing and don’t we all want to read awesome books?
The next couple of books are all going to be quite popular releases that have either just come out or are about to come out so I don’t feel too bad about not having read them yet. But I am ridiculously excited and not ready for some of them. First, we have All The Crooked Saints! I am a really big fan of The Raven Cycle by Maggie so when I heard that she was releasing a new book I pretty much added it to my TBR without thinking too much about it. I mean, I had loved an entire series by her surely I’ll enjoy her new book too! We’ll see how things go with this one and if I end up enjoying it as much as TRC!
By the way, on a somewhat unrelated note: if you loved The Raven Cycle as much as me and on top of that are a huge fan of Stranger Things: there is a new book coming out in 2019 called The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman that is supposed to be perfect for those among us!
My Chaol loving heart is so happy to be able to include this book on my list! You probably don’t know this unless you’ve been following me on Goodreads before you ever found my blog but: I am a Chaol fan. A big one. So you can probably imagine how disappointed I was to find out that he wasn’t in Empire Of Storms at all. Maybe a mention here and there but that was it. And then Sarah announced that she was writing a Chaol novella which turned into an entire novel in the form of Tower Of Dawn! And I still haven’t read it which just makes me mad at myself. What the hell, Swetlana?! Get on it already!
But yes, I am so freaking excited to be reunited with him an revisit some of the places from the novella bindup (if I remember correctly) and see some of those characters again too! And apparently, Sarah did a good job with the disability representation in this one too so that’s fantastic to hear!
Now let’s talk about the two upcoming releases that I can’t wait to get my hands on! First, Renegades by Marissa Meyer! I am honestly so excited to read something by her that isn’t a fairy tale retelling! I need to find out if I still enjoy her writing in that different of a setting! I also tried my best to get accepted for an ARC of this which unfortunately didn’t happen but since it’ll be out in the world tomorrow I’ll be able to read it soon anyway! I can’t wait! It’s also going to be my second Marissa Meyer book this year as I read Heartless in January! Have any of you guys been lucky enough to get ARCs and can tell me what you thought of this book?
And now, the final book on my list that I just 100% know I will get to as soon as I can (probably in the form of an audiobook again) because I am just so excited to read this book! I absolutely fell in love with Tahereh’s writing in Furthermore and I can’t wait to experience it all over again in Whichwood! I never knew I would enjoy middle-grade novels as much as I did with Furthermore and I feel like I will love Whichwood just as much!
How about you guys? Do you have any 2017 releases that you just absolutely have to get to by the end of the year? Or do you have too many of them?
Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned above and can give me pointers as to where I should start with my list? I’m here for any and all kind of persuasion to read a book you guys really enjoyed!
