Recent Favorites: Bookish And Others

Hey you guys! For today’s post, I thought I would talk about some of the things I have been loving lately and include some non-bookish things too because there are quite a few of those that I’ve been really enjoying! I hope you guys don’t mind the mix up in topic but I thought it would be fun to show a bit more of myself that’s not related to books.

Most of you guys probably don’t know that I used to be a huge One Direction fan to the point where my Tumblr blog was pretty much solely dedicated to all things 1D. But I’ve kind of left the fandom ever since and have limited myself to following the guys individually on their social media which has been such a blessing! No more fandom drama.

The most exciting One Direction related thing that happened recently was the release of Niall Horan’s debut album ‘Flicker’ which is so freaking fantastic. And so, so, so up my alley! I knew I would probably like it from what I had heard before the release but then I got the album and listened to it non stop for three weeks. Just the album and nothing else. On repeat. Day and night. It was glorious.

On Monday night, I decided that I wanted to listen to Simon VS to help myself fall asleep right. Sounds like a good, solid plan to all of us. The thing is? I couldn’t stop listening. I would set the sleep timer for 30 minutes and keep resetting it to 30 minutes because I didn’t want to stop listening yet. I did fall asleep at some point though and once I woke up, I just continued listening and finished the audiobook the next day.

You guys might remember that I just read this book not too long ago (and you’d be right, I finished it early July!) and I don’t even know why I had this sudden urge to reread this book, but I did and I think I just fell in love with the story and characters, even more, this time around! And I kept wishing I had a physical copy already so I can tab all those fun scenes – soon, hopefully!

Most of you who have been following my blog for a while probably know that I am a big Marvel fan (especially the movies and Netflix shows) and when I saw the trailer for FOX’s The Gifted over the summer (and spotted Blair Redford in the cast) I just knew I had to give the show a chance and I have to say: I really enjoy it! I have about zero knowledge of anything X-Men or mutant related and I still find myself really engaged with what is going on and definitely recommend you guys check it out too!

oh yes i love to readReading, Reading And Even More Reading

I have no idea what kind of switch got turned recently but I have honestly been in such a reading mood lately! I want to read all of the books out there and if I could I would read them all at the same time too! These days, whenever I’m bored and don’t find anything to grasp my attention on the internet, I’ll just shut my laptop and reach for a book. Do you know when that happened last? Because I can’t remember. Usually, I will just check the same handful of websites over and over again hoping something will just pop up.

  1. AW YEAH I’ve been really enjoying some of the songs on Niall’s new album! My favourite is definitely Flickerโ€”it has such a soft sound to it because of the instruments used and then paired with Niall’s pure voice… I just love it! I really like On The Loose as well and one other song but I forgot the name oops XD

I have yet to read Simon VS but it’s moved to my nightstand TBR recently and I plan to read it by the end of the year! I’m sooooo obsessed with the characters already just from having seen the movie stills! I’m sure the book will be even better XD

thank you for sharing and feel free to do this more often! I don’t mind when things aren’t book-related every once in a while ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Those are definitely fantastic songs! I also have On My Own on that list!

I can’t wait to see what you think of the book once you get around to it – hopefully sooner rather than later. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› I can’t wait for a full trailer to drop and to see more of what the movie is going to be like! I definitely have high hopes!

  2. Oh I haven’t listened to Niall’s new album entirely, but I’ve been loving a few songs, On My Own, Too Late To Ask are fantastic. I need to listen to the whole album now ๐Ÿ™‚
Simon vs. is such an amazing book, I hope you’ll be able to get your hands on a physical copy soon. I love this story so much, can’t wait for the movie to be released, I hope it will be just as good ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. HA. I wish! Usually, I’ll procrastinate like no one’s business. I’ll watch 10 hours of YouTube before picking up a book but lately something seems to have switched! But then again, I did watch a bunch of episodes of Quantico last night and today instead of reading – so there’s that too! xD

  4. I personally love the concept of mixing bookish and non-bookish faves together! ๐Ÿ™‚

Simon VS. is sooo good! It was the same for me: I just wanted to read 100 pages but then I somehow stayed up and finished the entire book, because I couldn’t stop reading ๐Ÿ™‚ This year I did my first reread, because I had the urge to read the book again.

Oh I’ve been considering starting The Gifted but wasn’t sure if it was for me, because I too am not that familiar with the X-Men/Mutant stuff. But now I might watch the pilot and see for myself ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I’ve pretty much read Simon VS the same way both times because I listened to the entire audiobook in pretty much one sitting the first time too! And you’d think now that I KNOW what is going on I would be able to take my time with it more, but no. xD

I would definitely recommend giving it a go and watching a few episodes to see whether you like it or not!
