Blogmas Day 10: Top 10 Books You Would Love To Find Under The Christmas Tree

Good morning you guys and welcome to Blogmas Day 10! And don’t worry – you don’t have your dates all messed up. I kind of managed to forget writing this post for yesterday so I’m uploading it today – better late than never, right?

And even though my prompt asks for books I would like to find under the Christmas tree, I decided to switch things up a little bit and suggest books you could get the bookworms in your life based on some characteristics about them. There’s still enough time to run to your nearest bookstore to pick up a copy of any of these books so they make for a great last minute present!

Book-to-Movie Adaptation Lover

I feel like a lot of people really enjoy a good movie and if we think about all of those upcoming book-to-movie adaptations that are being released soon, I feel like these books would make a great gift for that person. We’ve got Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda, The Hate U Give, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Wraith & The Dawn (though this one has just been announced, but there’s no such thing as starting to read the book too soon) and I can personally highly recommend both Simon VS and THUG as a present for anyone in your life, really. They are both awesome reads (in fact, I’ve read Simon VS twice within 4 months)!

Kickass-Heroine Lover

Don’t we all love a book about a woman who kicks ass and is just really freaking awesome in general? I know I do and I want everyone to read them too! For this person, I would highly recommend Kiersten White’s The Conqueror’s Saga, Sabaa Tahir’s An Ember In The Ashes series, Leigh Bardugo’s Six Of Crows duology (+ Wonder Woman: Warbringer) and Victoria Schwab’s Shades Of Magic trilogy!

Long-Series-Lover

I’m sure there are people out there who prefer short series or standalone novels, but as a huge series lover myself I figured I would recommend some books for like-minded people out there! There is the very answer of all of the Cassandra Clare books (as they are all part of the same universe), Sarah J. Maas’ Throne Of Glass series, Harry Potter (for those who haven’t read it yet) and Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles.

Contemporary Lover

Up until early this year, I was 100% certain that I wasn’t someone who enjoyed reading contemporary. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would read so many fantastic contemporary books this year and that one of them would be my favorite. So, for the reader in your life who loves them a lot too, here are some to add to their list: Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda & The Upside Of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli, When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandyha Menon, A List Of Cages by Robin Roe (I want to put a trigger warning for child abuse on this one), The Fault In Our Stars & Looking For Alaska by John Green and Eliza And Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia.

Books-About-Social-Issues Lover

I don’t know if that’s exactly how I want to summarize these particular books, but basically, these are some suggestions for the reader out there who enjoys reading books that deal with various issues – from race, sexuality to mental health issues. Here we have The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Dear Martin by Nic Stone, Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire and The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice And Virtue by Mackenzie Lee.

Personal Favorites

And lastly, I just want to recommend some books that I love with all of my heart and that I would throw at every reader out there to get them to read the books too. There is The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (this might surprise you because I never talk about these books but I love them. With all my heart.), The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (yes, I am mentioning it again. We’re talking favorites here, okay?!).

  1. Oh, great post, Swetlana! I’m giving my sister Cinder — I’m hoping to start her on YA with a book I love. 😉 Oh, I didn’t know the Wayward Children series was about social issues!! I definitely want to read it even more now ahaha.

Some books I know I’ll be getting for Christmas & am SUPER excited about are The City of Brass, Bad Romance, and Moxie!!

    1. The Wayward Children books deal with a lot of different characters and their journeys which I really loved! Especially in the second book. There were so many fantastic messages being delivered!

Ah, I still need to read The City Of Brass and Moxie! I’ve so far only heard fantastic things and I NEED to read them already! I hope you end up loving them, May! I have no idea what I’m getting for Christmas as I didn’t really ask for anything from my siblings, so I’ll see! All I know is that I’ll definitely get one book in a gift exchange package that I got earlier this month (and have impatiently been waiting to unpack ever since)!

And I think it’s a fantastic idea to give your sister a book you love to help get her into YA! And Cinder is definitely a great choice!

      1. Ooh, that makes me want to read the Wayward Children even more now! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. 😊

And oh yes, I’m SUPER excited to read those!! There’s been so much praise for those two that I’ve mentally given it four stars already. 😂 And I hope you enjoy whatever your siblings give you and what’s in your gift exchange package! I’m doing a gift exchange as well and I’m HOPING what’s in there is Wild Beauty haha.
