Good morning you guys and welcome to Blogmas Day 10! And don’t worry – you don’t have your dates all messed up. I kind of managed to forget writing this post for yesterday so I’m uploading it today – better late than never, right?
And even though my prompt asks for books I would like to find under the Christmas tree, I decided to switch things up a little bit and suggest books you could get the bookworms in your life based on some characteristics about them. There’s still enough time to run to your nearest bookstore to pick up a copy of any of these books so they make for a great last minute present!
Book-to-Movie Adaptation Lover
I feel like a lot of people really enjoy a good movie and if we think about all of those upcoming book-to-movie adaptations that are being released soon, I feel like these books would make a great gift for that person. We’ve got Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda, The Hate U Give, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Wraith & The Dawn (though this one has just been announced, but there’s no such thing as starting to read the book too soon) and I can personally highly recommend both Simon VS and THUG as a present for anyone in your life, really. They are both awesome reads (in fact, I’ve read Simon VS twice within 4 months)!
Don’t we all love a book about a woman who kicks ass and is just really freaking awesome in general? I know I do and I want everyone to read them too! For this person, I would highly recommend Kiersten White’s The Conqueror’s Saga, Sabaa Tahir’s An Ember In The Ashes series, Leigh Bardugo’s Six Of Crows duology (+ Wonder Woman: Warbringer) and Victoria Schwab’s Shades Of Magic trilogy!
I’m sure there are people out there who prefer short series or standalone novels, but as a huge series lover myself I figured I would recommend some books for like-minded people out there! There is the very answer of all of the Cassandra Clare books (as they are all part of the same universe), Sarah J. Maas’ Throne Of Glass series, Harry Potter (for those who haven’t read it yet) and Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles.
Up until early this year, I was 100% certain that I wasn’t someone who enjoyed reading contemporary. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would read so many fantastic contemporary books this year and that one of them would be my favorite. So, for the reader in your life who loves them a lot too, here are some to add to their list: Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda & The Upside Of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli, When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandyha Menon, A List Of Cages by Robin Roe (I want to put a trigger warning for child abuse on this one), The Fault In Our Stars & Looking For Alaska by John Green and Eliza And Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia.
I don’t know if that’s exactly how I want to summarize these particular books, but basically, these are some suggestions for the reader out there who enjoys reading books that deal with various issues – from race, sexuality to mental health issues. Here we have The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Dear Martin by Nic Stone, Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire and The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice And Virtue by Mackenzie Lee.
And lastly, I just want to recommend some books that I love with all of my heart and that I would throw at every reader out there to get them to read the books too. There is The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (this might surprise you because I never talk about these books but I love them. With all my heart.), The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (yes, I am mentioning it again. We’re talking favorites here, okay?!).
And now it’s once again time to link to you guys’ posts for yesterday’s prompt of the day: Favorite 2017 Covers! If you guys want to be featured for any of the upcoming prompts (including today’s) just make sure to write your own post and pingback to the corresponding post of mine so I don’t miss your posts! I can’t wait to see what some of you guys’ responses to the upcoming prompts are going to be!
