6 (More) Books I’d Do Anything To Own

Hey you guys and welcome to (yet) another anticipated releases post! If you are anything like me, you probably have a list at least a mile long featuring all those upcoming releases you can’t wait to get your hands on. Right? Of course, you do!

You’re a bookworm and (probably) blogger! And as a fellow blogger, you’ve probably also shared a bunch of your anticipated releases on your blog before (as most of us do) so you probably understand that it’s a never-ending list. Honestly, you think ‘Okay, I’ve shared so many releases, I’m sure I’ve talked about all of them at this point!’ but then you check Goodreads and realize that – no, you haven’t.

That’s what happened today! I’ve been thinking up new blog posts for the upcoming month and while I thought I had mentioned most of my anticipated releases in the past few months – I haven’t talked about all of them. Which is exactly what we’re going to be talking about today. And just in case you haven’t seen my previous two posts yet, click here and here!

to kill a kingdomTo Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

I feel like it’s kind of weird that I am starting this list off with two books I currently have eARCs of and technically own that way, but like. Physical copies. We’re talking physical copies. Plus, I haven’t read them yet so I’m still super anticipating them!

But the first book is all about a lethal siren, Lira, who has to deliver hearts to her mother, the Sea Queen. When she kills one of her own though, her mother punishes her by turning her into a human with the mission to get Prince Elian’s heart or remain human forever.

From what I gather and remember about The Little Mermaid this sounds a lot like it’s going to be a retelling but the main character is deadly and after human hearts which Arielle never was in the Disney movie. But still, I am so excited and can’t wait to read this and tell you guys more about it soon!

the astonishing color of afterThe Astonishing Color Of After by Emily X. R. Pan

Up next, we’re talking about the second eARC I have and a book I first heard about on Jackie’s blog as she had won an ARC in a giveaway and so when I came across this on NetGalley, of course, I had to try my luck too!

We’re following Leigh Chen, a half Asian and half white character who travels to Taiwan to meet her grandparents for the first time after her mother commits suicide. Leigh is convinced her mother turned into a bird after her suicide so she’s determined to find that bird while in Taiwan.

This honestly sounds like the type of book that is going to make me cry over and over again – I can’t not cry whenever something happens to a mother in a book or tv show. I just turn into a sobbing mess. So yeah, I am ready to get my heart broken.

blank coverSon Of Dawn by Cassandra Clare

It’s absolutely no secret that I am a big Cassandra Clare fan (and yes, I’ve mentioned Queen Of Air And Darkness in one of my other two posts before so you won’t find it here) so obviously, she was going to be included here! But not only is this a Cassandra Clare book. Oh no! It’s the first of a number of short stories all about a certain character that has shown up in all three of her series.

And if you know me, you know just how much I love, love, love this character. Which of course means that I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this story and all of the following ones! And if you’re wondering why I’m not mentioning this character by name – there are potential spoilers involved for this character’s previous story arc!

a court of frost and starlightA Court Of Frost And Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

Oh look, not only am I talking about Cassie, but I also have a Sarah J. Maas book on this list! And this ‘novella’ is going to be pretty much a bridge between the previous books in the A Court Of Thorns And Roses series and the upcoming ones. And it’s supposedly from Feyre and Rhysand’s perspectives. I just hope Rhys gets more page time for his perspective than he did in ACOWAR.

As far as plot? We don’t know anything. Not a single thing other than it’s set after the events of ACOWAR and is dual-perspective. But I honestly don’t need much more than that. I still love this series even though ACOWAR kind of disappointed me and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we’re getting at least some Cassian in this one – I miss him. So much.

So yeah, dual POV and hopefully some Cassian (and if Sarah throws in all of the other characters too, that’d be even better) – that’s all I need.

from twinkle with loveFrom Twinkle, With Love by Sandyha Menon

While creating this list, I was convinced I had talked about Sandyha Menon’s upcoming book already. I mean, I’ve been lusting after it for months now. Surely I would have talked about it before? Turns out, I haven’t yet. Which is fantastic because that just means I get to talk about it for today’s post!

You might remember that I read and really enjoyed When Dimple Met Rishi last year and I’ve been looking forward to any book by Sandyha ever since! And now we’re so close!

In this book, we follow aspiring filmmaker Twinkle who gets the chance to direct a movie for an upcoming festival with fellow film lover Sahil. Twinkle also sees this as an opportunity to get closer to Sahil’s twin brother Neil who she has a crush on, so when someone called N. starts emailing her, Twinkle is sure it’s Neil! Problem is, while making their movie together, Twinkle has fallen madly in love with Sahil.

And even though I feel like I know pretty much exactly how this particular book is going to play out, I’m still super excited because sometimes you just really need a fun, light-hearted rom-com type of book!

these rebel wavesThese Rebel Waves by Sara Raasch

This particular release has been on my ‘Not Yet Released’ shelf for ages now it seems because I had read Sara’s Snow Like Ashes trilogy before (I should mention that I still haven’t read the final book…) and enjoyed it quite a bit. Naturally, when I saw that she was coming out with a new series, I added it to my TBR too! And I have to say, this cover really intrigues me!

In These Rebel Waves, we follow a soldier, a pirate and a heretic on different missions: find a missing diplomat (the first two) and reverse a people’s fear of magic. I honestly feel like this story has a lot of potential and I’ve really come to enjoy stories that feature pirates in them (or privateers) so I’m even more excited! I just hope there won’t be an unnecessary love triangle in this one… I don’t really have time for that. But we’ll see!

I would like to round out this post by sharing an image of all the books I am excited about for 2018 (that have covers) – their releases start from the month of March and continue until December – though some months aren’t included (yet).

round up 1 (1)round up 2

And if you guys want information on any of these titles that I didn’t include in this post, make sure to check out my previous posts by clicking here and here! Three books missing on this wrap-up image are On The Come Up by Angie Thomas, Son Of Dawn by Cassandra Clare and What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera – which by no means is a sign of me wanting them any less. I think we all know I am a big fan of all three authors’ previous work and absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on any and all future books they write!

How about you guys? Do you have lists and lists filled with upcoming releases? And do you constantly find yourself wanting to talk about them to anyone who will listen? And what are some of your most anticipated releases for 2018? Let me know in the comments below as I still need to expand my list – especially for the second half of 2018!

    1. I have to say, so far To Kill A Kingdom is pretty good! I’m about 40% through the ARC and I’m definitely enjoying it – I just wish it had shorter chapters. xD

And YES. I’ve already seen SO many fantastic covers this year??? Where were all those cover designers last year? We could’ve definitely used some of them!

    1. Me too! I really hope they’ll publish the audiobook on release day too because that’s how I’d love to read this book too as I enjoyed When Dimple’s audiobook so much!

I weirdly read mostly new-ish releases! The only time I’ll read ‘older’ releases is when I get accepted for a sequel to a book I haven’t read yet. xD

  7. Omg yesssss!! I am so excited for SO many of these books!!! OBVS QUEEN OF AIR AND DARKNESS IS LIKE,,, DFGKFDJG (I havenโ€™t even finished LoS tho :/) and the children of Blood and Bone is another one of the books that I NEED. IN. MY. LIFE.

I only JUST read Simon Vs. and I really didnโ€™t like Leah, but Iโ€™m really excited to read Leah on the offbeat since I think that it will help me understand her more and dislike her a little lesS??

    Such a cool post!

  8. Ahhhhh yay I’m so happy to hear that I inspired you to request The Astonishing Color of After! I was SO excited to be receiving the ARC because I feel like it’ll be a book that will completely resonate with me. I’m kind of dreading to read it though because it’s so BIG. I meant to start it as soon as I received it but that hasn’t happened yet :’)

I also have an ARC of To Kill a Kingdom and I’m quite interested to see how the whole evil Little Mermaid thingy (or whatever it’s about I actually don’t know a single thing hfjshgs) is going to play out! And I hope ACOFAS is gonna have lots of Feyrhys (A WEDDING PLS), Mor finding a girlfriend??, Azriel and Elain being soft with each other??, Cassian dumping N*sta (and getting together with me) (or you) (i don’t care as long as it isn’t she-who-must-not-be-named)

I don’t think I have to tell you which book I’m most excited about to come out this year…… but…… I’ll do it anyway…….

    1. I am kind of TERRIFIED of what that book is going to do to me since I always turn into a sobbing mess whenever mothers are involved in stories and something bad happens to them and seeing how the mother here is dead – that sounds like Heartbreak City to me.

It’s kind of The Little Mermaid but with sirens rather than mermaids – though mermaids do exist, the focus just isn’t on them.

WHY DO YOU NOT LIKE NESTA???? Tell me. And excuse me, Cassian is obviously going to choose me.

I would have NEVER guessed, Jackie!!! But I’m so happy that you’re THIS CLOSE to holding this book in your arms! I am genuinely excited to see you hopefully tweet all about reactions while reading it!

      1. oh I looooove sirens!!!!! I think I’m gonna pick up the book sooner rather than later then XD

ugh N*sta is a MESS. i just hate that she never apologised to Feyre for treating her like ABSOLUTE TRASH. I mean she’s her sister for god’s sake and she’s YOUNGER than both her and Elain and still, she was the one to take care of the entire family?? And she was so rude to Feyre the entire time which made no sense at all. And I guess she’s slowly warming up to her in ACOWAR but STILL. WHERE IS HER APOLOGY FOR BEING A BULLY ALL THESE YEARS?? AND WHY DID SHE SEEM TO GET ALONG WITH ELAIN BUT NOT FEYRE?? I just.. really don’t like her idk

and Cassian deserves so much better than her ugh

YAYYYY I’ll definitely tweet ALL my reactions and probably spoil the entire book for everyone haha
