Good morning and happy Saturday, you guys! I hope you’ve had a nice start into the weekend (unlike my idiot self *shakes head*) and get to relax for a couple of days!
As I had mentioned before, for today’s post I thought it would be fun to take a look at how I set up my bullet journal for a new month. But before we get into that, please make sure you check out how I set up my new journal in general and if you’re interested, I also shared some lessons I learned while setting up this particular journal!
But now, before I start rambling, let’s just jump right into this post, shall we?
While I usually really like having a cover page for each new month, I had absolutely no inspiration for May, so I just went with a simple title page. But. What I did do was a bit of journaling right at the end of April all about how I felt the day I got Leah On The Offbeat and to round that page off, I created a simple collection of my favorite quotes that happened to match my colors for both April and May. And I hadn’t even planned it that way? I just went for the pink and turquoise that was already on the book cover and turquoise was also the color I had chosen earlier when I was brainstorming my May set up. It all worked out perfectly by accident!
Another thing that I really, really like having each month is a look at the releases I am excited for so I can mark off when they release and if I’ve read them or not. We all know that there are constantly so many new books being released and how is one supposed to keep up with it all, right? Plus, it brings me so much joy seeing which books I can hopefully read in the upcoming month because more often than not, I do lose any and all overview of what comes out when.
Next, I like keeping an overview of how my posts do each month and I like having a calendar in my bullet journal too that shows me which posts are already written and which ones I still need to work on (posts that still need to be written = sticky notes). Having an overview of the posts I share each month also gives me a physical overview instead of just having it on WordPress itself.
And now it’s time to get into some serious tracking! I never would have thought that I would actively keep up with my habit tracker each month but that’s exactly what’s been happening since January of this year! I also realized that I prefer marking off where each week ends too because it puts less stress on me to keep up with all habits over the course of the month and instead breaks it down into four to five separate blocks that I can look at and improve on when needed (aka get your sleep under control, Swetlana!!!).
One of my newest additions to my monthly spreads is a reading tracker! I created a very small one for the Easter Readathon last month and enjoyed it so much, that I ended up creating another one for all of April. I actually underestimated how much reading I would get done in April so I ended up running out of space and the page looked really messy – but since I was setting up a new month I knew better and I gave myself an entire page, just in case!
And lastly, I just set up the first page of my running to-do lists for the month of May. By the time we get closer to Tuesday, I’ll migrate any tasks I haven’t completed from my previous list just so it’s all in one place and in the current month. I’ve mentioned this before, but I don’t create weekly spreads in my journal because I don’t need them at this particular point in my life. Running to-do lists work best for me so that’s what I’ve been doing and probably will continue doing!
The only other thing that will be filled in from here on out are any journal entries I want to do. But those don’t really have a set in stone place or anything – I just write them down whenever I want or need to and I love that.
That’s pretty much my journal where it is at right now! I’m honestly still very much in love with it and I still update it daily. I’ve actually been trying to figure out how to change up the cover so it’s a lot more to my liking but I haven’t decided on one thing yet. Maybe we’ll get there by the time June comes around (which OMG how are we this close to the middle of the year already???) and I get to share it with you lovely lot!
How about you lovely lot? Have you set up your journals for the new month yet? And how excited do you get whenever a new month comes closer and you know you get to set up an entirely new spread where you can improve on any ‘mistakes’ you might have made before? Let me know in the comments down below!
And if you happen to be Caro reading this, please, please, please tell me you’ve started work on your journal already? Or you know, we could Skype and I’ll yell at you to do it? I’m sure it’ll be a ton of fun! 😉
