Summer Biannual Bibliothon TBR

Hey everyone! I’m kind of stuck as to how I should start this post because I was basically a bit MIA for the past week again and I don’t know if I should just jump straight into things or try and explain why I haven’t been posting as regularly (which, answer is: I have no idea.) as I usually do. The easiest thing is probably going to be to just continue as if nothing happened and hope that I’ll get back into blogging regularly sooner rather than later because it’s honestly quite annoying me. xD

BUT! As you can see from the title I’ve decided to do join another readathon and I’ve actually set myself a TBR that would mean I complete all the challenges and read a total of 7 books. I know, who even am I, right?

As for some readathon details: It’s the summer edition of the Biannual Bibliothon that’ll be going on from Friday, July 14th to Saturday, July 20th! There’s a total of 7 reading challenges (and other challenges, check out their YouTube channel for more info!) that you can either try and complete each or combine them with other challenges – it’s all up to you! Here’s what I plan to read for the week of the readathon.

the wicked deepGroup book: THE WICKED DEEP

I originally wasn’t even going to read the group book for some reason but then I listened to the sample on audible and I have to say, it drew me right in and I knew I had to listen to the full book. Plus, so many people have been raving about this book lately which had me even more curious.

For these next two challenges, Caro and I decided to work together. I picked a book off her previous monthly TBRs and she’s going to do the same from the various TBRs I’ve done over the past year or so. Since we’re often doing readathons together this seemed like a fun way to go about this challenge! I’ll be reading The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde which Caro (and Sandra!) loves so I have high hopes for this one. πŸ™‚

28245707Try the first chapter of 3 books and pick 14

This is the second challenge that Caro and I worked on together and I actually let her pick the three books off my TBR on Goodreads as we were going to do a similar challenge on our blogs anyways once she has more time and since this challenge seemed to be aimed directly at us, we decided to just do it here! The three books Caro picked for me are:

  • Queens Of Geek by Jen Wilde
  • The Wrath And The Dawn by RenΓ©e Ahdieh
  • The Young Elites by Marie Lu

the wrath and the dawn usI got to do a bit of switching around for this one (which I did especially last minute because I wanted to include three books that I didn’t have any preferences for – one of the books Caro had chosen was the third Magnus Chase book and I figured I’d definitely want to continue afterwards which would put the rest of the books at a disadvantage) which resulted in me having two books by both Jen Wilde and Marie Lu on my TBR. xD

batman nightwalkerRead a book that has been on your TBR for over a year

At this point, it’s almost ridiculous that I haven’t caught up to the DC Icons series yet especially since the next book comes out next month, so I decided it was about time I read Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu. And if you’re familiar with the release date of this book you might want to point out that it hasn’t been out for a year yet – that’s true. But it’s been on my TBR for much, much longer so it counts. xD

forest of a thousand lanternsRead a predicted 5 star read

When I first saw this challenge I was like ‘I did a post like this a couple of months ago! I should read one of the books I mentioned there.’ – long story short, the only book I haven’t read yet is King Of Scars WHICH HASN’T EVEN RELEASED YET. *cries* So I had to pick a different book and I once again went to audible to listen to some samples of the books that are currently on my TBR andΒ Forest Of A Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao was another example of a book gripping me from the sampler alone!

summer of saltOwn voices – different than YOU

This was a pretty easy choice for me too! I had recently talked about wanting to read Summer Of Salt of Katrina Leno as part of my Summer 2018 TBR and from what I’ve read this book has a lesbian MC and also some aro/ace representation which is quite different from how I identify.

bright we burnRead the last book you bought

THIS PAINS ME TO SAY, ALMOST BUT. I will be waiting until Friday to start reading Bright We Burn by Kiersten White (which means I need to hurry the F up and finish Now I Rise) so I can fulfill this challenge. I’ve gotten a few audiobooks recently but I figured I’d count my purchase of the physical copy of Bright We Burn for this as I’m super excited to read it and it’s the most recent physical book I bought. πŸ™‚

Grab Your Coffee And Let's Talk!

How about you guys? Are any of you going to participate in the Biannual Bibliothon starting Friday? And if so, what are some of the books on your TBR? And if you’ve read any of the books I talked about – what did you think about them? Let’s chat in the comments down below! πŸ™‚

  1. I’m very excited to participate in this readathon, sadly I don’t think I will be able to read The Group book though because I don’t have access to a copy, and I won’t for quit a while, which is sad because The Wicked Deep interest me.

  2. Great TBR, so many amazing books on your list 😍 Can’t wait to see what you’re thinking of all of them. I’ll probably read The Wicked Deep this month as well since it’s been on my tbr for far too long.
Hope you enjoy the books you chose and good luck! ❀

    1. I’ve already finished The Wicked Deep and can’t wait to talk a bit more about it for my wrap up of the readathon – but as an overall thought, I did enjoy it! πŸ˜€

And I’m about 70-ish pages into Forest and quite enjoying it so far! I can’t wait to see where the story goes because I don’t remember what the book is supposed to be about. xD

  5. Oh good luck with this readathon Swetlana, and I hope you enjoy all these books as well. πŸ™‚ Bright We Burn was the last book I brought and I’m so excited to get around to it as well. I have a few books I need to get around to first but I have a feeling you’ll be able to get around to it on Friday before I do so I hope you enjoy it. Same goes for Forest of a Thousand Lanterns and Batman: Nightwalker which are two others I really enjoyed myself.
Great post, and again good luck with this TBR. πŸ™‚ ❀

    1. Thank you! The Readathon has been going well so far but I actually haven’t gotten to Bright We Burn yet. But I did check the last page to see how things end (like it wasn’t obvious already but you know) and now I’m like ‘Okay. Prepare yourself.’. xD

I’m currently about 70-ish pages into Forest and really quite enjoying it! I’ve basically got no idea WHAT is supposed to happen so this is an even more fun reading experience!

      Thank you, Beth!

      1. That’s good to hear, and yeah I feel like even without reading the last page I know to prepare myself for that book. It’s not going to be a happy ending for everyone is it?
Hopefully you’ll end up enjoying the rest of Forest then, sounds like the first 70-pages has been an experience!
        That’s all right. πŸ™‚

  7. Good luck with your tbr! I’ve read and enjoyed some of the books you mentioned and the rest are books I’m hoping to read sometime this year. I really liked Queens of Geek and The Wrath and the Dawn. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns is a book I’ve heard so many good things about. I hope you enjoy it! Have fun with the readathon! πŸ™‚

  8. I unfortunately haven’t read any of these books, aside for The Young Elites, which I hope you end up picking! It wasn’t my ~favorite~ Marie Lu book, but it was dark and very different from her usual voice, which I appreciated a lot! And I’m excited that you loved the first chapter of The Wicked Deep, since I’ve been eyeing it for a while now!

Also, I can’t believe I haven’t been following your blog yet. Remedied this via WP reader. πŸ˜‰

    1. I feel like SO MANY people were kind of hating on this trilogy when it first came out so I never really got into it – also, the main character seemed a bit unlikeable which would’ve been something I wouldn’t have enjoyed a few years ago! So I hope that 2018 me can appreciate an unlikable character more than my past self!

I’ve since finished The Wicked Deep and it was pretty good! I did know where the story would have to go so that kind of sucked, but there’s only so much you can do with that premise!

Thank you for following, I really appreciate it! ❀
