I feel like most of us probably are well aware of my love for everything tv or movie related, right? I love to binge watch shows on Netflix or rewatch certain shows (mostly Queer Eye and One Day At A Time) over and over again whenever I want a pick me up.
With movies, it’s sometimes a bit more difficult because while I can binge watch multiple episodes of one show it’s often more difficult to concentrate on one movie – unless it’s the Captain America movies. Those I’ll watch over and over again no problem.
And since I want to try and watch a few more movies in general, I figured it would be fun to share 6 upcoming movie adaptations I’m super hyped for.
Release Date: August 3rd
The Darkest Minds
One of the first movies I want to talk about is a series that has basically been everywhere for the past couple of weeks with the publisher sending influencers boxes every other week to promote the next book in the series but also the movie: The Darkest Minds!
We’ve recently (kind of) gotten the trailer for this movie and I have to say, it had me hooked pretty much right away! I never read the trilogy when it first released even though it was pretty much everywhere on booktube (my introduction to the online book community) and people seemed to have genuinely really enjoyed the books.
Caro, Sandra and I had planned on reading at least the first book before the movie releases but it looks like that won’t be likely. However, I do still plan on watching this movie and reading the book – at some point. And hopefully, I’ll enjoy it so much that I’ll want to continue on with the series. Not that I’m already in the middle of about a million different series.
Release Date: August 17th
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (On Netflix)
As soon as I heard that we’d be getting a movie based on To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before I was super hyped! I read and enjoyed the entire trilogy last summer and it was the perfect feel-good trilogy we all need in our lives.
And then we got the trailer. And it was so freaking awesome. I’ve seen it too many times at this point and I’ll probably watch it a million more times before the movie is finally available on Netflix in less than a month!
I’m 100% someone who likes having go-to movies that I know will make me happy and I’m really hoping this will be another movie I can add to that list! I might actually try and reread the first book in time for the release too so I can compare the two and see which changes were made, etc. 😀
Crazy Rich Asians
How often do you guys add a movie to your watch list because it has one of your favorite actors in it? Because that was the main reason why I first added Crazy Rich Asians to my list: Harry Shum Jr (aka Magnus Bane on Freeform’s Shadowhunters) stars in this movie. I have no idea how big or small his role is, I just know that he’s in it and I want to show my support.
During and after filming for this movie, Harry often hung out with Henry Golding and from what they each shared on their Instagram profiles Henry came across as a really genuine guy which made me want to support this movie even more. And then we got the trailer. And it promises such a good time? This seems like a fantastic summer movie and I know I can’t wait to dive into it – whenever it hits theaters in Germany (because my lazy self only researched the US release dates).
Release Date: September 7th
Sierra Burgess Is A Loser (On Netflix)
Would you guys believe that I stumbled upon this movie pretty much by accident? I was browsing YouTube and saw Noah Centineo in a Build series interview and that’s pretty much how I ended up finding out about this movie as the actor was promoting this one as well as To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
From what I’ve gathered from the trailer, our main protagonist Sierra (played by Shannon Purser) ends up talking to a boy (played by Noah) via phone but soon discovers that he thinks she’s someone else. Sierra then enlists the help of the girl who her love interest thinks she is to help her. I SUCK at summarizing plots as we all know, so please, do me and you guys a favor and please check out the trailer. It’ll hopefully give you guys a much better idea. xD
But yeah, this does seem like a fun teen movie and I honestly can’t wait to watch it and luckily this will be on Netflix so hopefully, we’re all in a position where we can watch it right away!
Release Date: October 19th
The Hate U Give
This particular movie probably comes to the surprise of absolutely no one: The Hate U Give!
I was so, so excited about the book when it came out last year and the success it has had has been so amazing and I’m so happy for Angie and everyone involved in this movie! This book was a fantastic read and I am honestly so stoked for the movie and just hope that they don’t make us wait forever for the movie here in Germany (yes, I’m still very bitter about the way they handled the Love, Simon situation).
And just in case you haven’t heard about this book and/or movie yet, we follow the story of 16-year-old Starr who witnesses her best friend Khalil being shot by a white police officer, the investigation and trial that follows after as well as the way Starr deals with it all.
How about you guys? What are some movies you’re all super excited about that are coming out in the next couple of months? And what is one book to movie adaption that you absolutely love – no matter when it came out. I feel like I need a few more new movies because I’m often stuck watching the same movies over and over again. xD So please, share any and all in the comments down below! Thank you. 🙂
