Book Series Extravaganza // Blogmas Day 10

Hello and welcome to Blogmas day 10! For today’s post, I figured we’d talk about book series and various things related to them. Are there ones I want to reread? Ones I need to finish? Or want to start? Well, continue reading and find out! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Up first, we’re gonna talk about a bunch of series in relation to rereading. I feel like if you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know how much I love to reread books – I wrote a full-on post about it, that’s how passionate I am about rereading. xD

Book Series I’m Afraid To Re-Read

As someone who loves series and has been reading them for too many years, there are so many of them on my ‘Read’ shelf on Goodreads and while I loved them at the time, I don’t know if I’ll still feel the same about them if I read them again now.

And the thing is, I don’t want to taint my opinion of a series that holds a place in my heart just because I read it now that my tastes have changed. This isn’t about problematic content in books or anything, it’s just about changed tastes or changed preferrances in the genres I love to read (aka majorly fantasy and barely and dystopian).

Here are three book series that I loved when I read them and kind of want to reread lately but I’m afraid that if I do, I won’t enjoy them as much anymore.

  • Legend Trilogy by Marie Lu
  • Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkowski
  • Vampire Academy / Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

I actually recently rewatched the Vampire Academy movie and it definitely made me want to read the series again but seeing how much I didn’t enjoy the movie, I worry it’ll be the same for the book series so I just stay away from it.

Book Series I Re-Read Regularly

On the other hand, I have books I reread regularly and still find myself enjoying them a lot – if not even more (as was the case with the Lara Jean trilogy, for example). You’re able to pick up on things you might’ve missed before or just simply concentrate on different aspects of the story each time, plus if you annotate you can compare your current feelings to your previous ones which are always a ton of fun! Beware though, if you annotate and tab often & regularly, your book’s pages might get a bit crowded. xD

  • Six Of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo
  • The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare
  • Lara Jean Trilogy by Jenny Han

Book Series I Want To Re-Read

Recently, someone I follow on Instagram was rereading the Shades Of Magic trilogy and updating their experience via Instagram stories and every time I saw a new update I kept thinking ‘I need to reread this soon!’ because I adored the story the first time around (for the most part, book 2 started out waaay too slow for me) and I’m super curious to see how/if my feelings have changed since I first read it last year.

  • Shades Of Magic Trilogy by Victoria Schwab
  • Arc Of A Scythe Trilogy by Neal Shusterman

And then there are books like Scythe and Thunderhead that are already so good on a first read through that you know you need to read them again – this time, with a physical copy so you can annotate them. Whenever I get around to this particular series, that’s how I’m gonna read it.

Book Series I Want To Start

You guys probably are in a similar situation as me and have quite a few book series on your TBR that you just cannot wait to start. You talk about that fact over and over again and yet the series is still sitting on your shelves untouched.

I’ve got a few of those and one has been with me since I started this blog almost exactly two years ago. And it’s number 1 on my list below. I’m sure if I mention it often enough I’ll eventually get to it. *is in denial*

  • Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown
  • Daughter Of Smoke And Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor
  • Renegades Trilogy by Marissa Meyer

Now, Renegades is something I’ve been meaning to read since it came out last year as I really enjoy Marissa’s writing style and I heard it dealt with superheroes. You know my MCU loving self is at the very least curious about it for that reason alone!

Book Series I Want To Finish

And since no post about book series is complete without a bit of a TBR included in it too, here’s mine!

  • Strange The Dreamer Duology by Laini Taylor
  • Wildcard Duology by Marie Lu
  • Monsters Of Verity Duology by Victoria Schwab

There are all series I started not that long ago but I haven’t finished them yet. Granted, the first two’s conclusions just released quite recently, but still. Especially with Wildcard, I expected I’d jump into that conclusion right away – Warcross ended so well! But nope, here I am in December and I still haven’t read it. xD

But now I want to know all about you guys and your book series reading! What series are you guys afraid to reread, what series do you reread regularly, what series do you want to reread? Are there any series you’d like to start? Or need to finish? Let me know in the comments down below!

And if you’ve read any of the series on my TBR, please let me know what you thought of them!

  1. I want to reread the Arc of a Scyhe books too! I can’t wait for the next novel in 2019! Also, I really hope you enjoy Renegades! Although I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the Lunar Chronicles, I still found it to be a fun read! โค I've had the Red Rising books on my tbr, since the dawn of time. I seriously need to get to those soon. Haha.

  2. What I great post!! I really want to reread Vampire Academy again, but like you I’m a bit scared, because it has been SO SO long since I read this, so what if I don’t like it as much? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I’m also vouching for you to start reading Renegades, it was so good and I need someone to discuss theories with ๐Ÿ’— And I can promise that Wildcard was really good, even though I really want another book!
