2019 Releases I Can’t Wait To Get My Hands On // Blogmas Day 18

Happy blogmas day 18 people! Right now, I’m so happy that I’m actually motivated to type up this post as I was worried that I’d still feel kind of ‘meh’ about blogging after getting out of it for a week. But we’re here and we’re doing it! 😀

2019 is less than two weeks away so it’s about time we’re talking about some upcoming releases, right? Twitter has basically been filled with list after list of fantastic round ups so make sure you keep an eye out for them too!

For this post, we’ll talk about the first half of 2019 only and keep it to the books I am 100% going to get – either physical or the audiobook version. There are just too many books being released and I’m still on a budget, so we’ll have to make do and limit things a bit more.

January 8th

As someone who grew up watching Buffy and is a big fan of Kiersten White’s The Conqueror’s Saga I knew I had to put Slayer on my anticipated list (I actually already placed my preorder for this book. I kept getting fantastic coupon codes so I took advantage of them – obviously) and I can not wait to get my hands on this and see Kiersten’s take on the slayer story and to meet a new slayer too!

Buffy herself was always a kickass and Kiersten’s characters (from what I’ve read about Lada) are too so I’m certain this slayer is gonna be just as awesome and I cannot wait to fall in love with another awesome AF female character!

This trilogy has been talked about so much since around BEA 2017 and I completely fell for the hype and read The Cruel Prince last year and after that ending, I need The Wicked King. Right now. Like, this is bound to get even more twisted and I am here for it.

But also, people have basically been singing the praises for this book since around BEA 2018 too and I just need to know what they’re all talking about. I am that person. xD I’ll probably do the audiobook route with this book because that’s how I read the previous book too and I cannot wait to dive into this.

January 29th

And now let’s talk about the book most of you guys should’ve seen coming on this list: Leigh Bardugo’s King Of Scars

I’ve basically been lusting after this book since early 2018 and now we’re just over a month away from it being released into the world and I don’t think I’m ready? I adore Nikolai. So, so much. And after having reread the Grisha trilogy this year my love for him just went through the god damn roof which also has me so, so worried for him. He was ‘good’, okay? And now there are two more books for Leigh to put him through hell. I am not ready people.

BUT ALSO! In fantastic and kickass women news: Nina Zenik has a POV in this. And so does Zoya Nazyalensky. I am here for both of them. So here for it.

By the way, if you’ve got a bit of time, make sure you check out the reviews/comments on this book on Goodreads – especially anything and everything related to the cover. It gives you a good idea of who Nikolai is without having read anything yet. xD

February 5th

The day we’re getting another Angie Thomas novel is getting closer and closer and February can’t be fast enough if you ask me! I absolutely loved The Hate U Give and have been looking forward to On The Come Up ever since it was announced.

I love Angie’s writing style and her stories are just absolutely fantastic and I just hope I’ll have an easier time getting my hands on a copy this time around!

This is a book where I don’t even need to know what the plot is about – it’s the author that’s at the top there that makes me want to read this.

March 5th

You might see this and wonder why I’m supporting Tomi after all of that Twitter drama that went down and the answer is: because I want to. People will still support problematic authors who aren’t POC so I don’t mind putting my money behind someone who messed up once.

Plus, I really enjoyed Children Of Blood And Bone and want to see how the story continues in Children Of Virtue And Vengeance. You can obviously decide to stay away from this release and author but I wanted to give it a shout out.

April 2nd

Okay, April is basically going to be a month where my wallet really hates me because there are three releases I want physical copies of, The Red Scrolls Of Magic being the first one.

I adore Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood so, so much (in big part thanks to the portrayal by Harry Shum Jr. and Matthew Daddario on the Shadowhunters tv show) and I’ll basically take any canon content I can get my hands on – though I am curious to see where Cassandra Clare takes the story here and how it’s going to connect to the overall story of the books set in this universe.

There were some serious problems with the way the characters were written in The Mortal Instruments (Alec being quite biphobic, for example – which the show changed completely and is part of why I adore this pair more thanks to the show) so I want to see what Cassie is going to do about that and how she’s gonna change that original characterization.

Besides the fact that April is going to be the month that my wallet is going to suffer quite a bit, it’s also going to be the month when I finally get to read The Devouring Gray. I’ve been looking forward to this book for such a long time now?

You probably know how I was with Amanda Foody’s Ace Of Shades before it released right? Yeah, this is that all over again! xD I got a sampler a couple of weeks ago and I need more. I even tabbed the sampler quite a bit. That’s how into this book I already am. And I’ve only read 25 pages.

This has been sold as kind of a mix of The Raven Cycle, Stranger Things and Riverdale (I mean, that title graphic alone screams Riverdale to me) and we know I love the Raven Cycle books. If this book gives me a crew like TRC? Good luck to me getting through this book without getting my feelings hurt. xD

April 30th

And speaking of Amanda Foody and Ace Of Shades, we’re also getting the sequel King Of Fools in April! I absolutely cannot wait to see how the story continues and to meet this new girl gang she’s been teasing on Twitter. I am here for kickass women, we’ve covered that.

Plus, the epilogue was quite interesting in Ace Of Shades and definitely promises some interesting conflicts yet to come and that doesn’t even include what happened in the book itself. Like, DAMN. I am here for this book, these characters (I’m too invested in Jac, Enne, Levi and LolaKing Of Fools is probably going to hurt me a lot) and whatever else Amanda has in store for us!

May 7th

To be honest with you guys, I don’t usually go for books written by any type of YouTube creator.Usually, they just simply don’t catch my attention or the creator throws it in my face so. many. freaking. times. that I want to blacklist anything and everything related to it from my brain.

But with Christine’s Again, But Better,  I’m actually quite excited to see what she put together and I want to support her. She never went overboard with pushing the book down her viewers’ throats. She usually mentioned them in her writing updates (which makes perfect sense, as they were about this book) and talked about the process and story in a way that has me super excited to read it.

Plus, with how much I’ve been loving contemporary this year, I had to have a book on here that was part of that genre, right?

May 14th

Speaking of contemporary and how much I love it, here’s another contemporary book on my list: There’s Something About Sweetie

I’ve really been enjoying Sandhya Menon’s books so far and this has a fat girl as the main protagonist and I am here for it! Plus, the synopsis sounds quite cute and who doesn’t like a good cute book to read during the spring? I know I do!

Also, this features Rishi’s brother (aka the love interest from When Dimple Met Rishi) Ashish and his story which I’m curious to read about. I also may love the whole ‘being set up for dates’ trope a bit too much because it makes for some awesome moments that I’m sure this book will be filled with too!

Plus, look at that cover? Isn’t it the most precious thing you’ve seen?

That’s it for today’s list of my anticipated 2019 releases! There will be so many more that I either haven’t heard of yet or that haven’t grabbed my attention yet so I’m sure I’ll write at least one more post like this in the next couple of months. xD Especially since I only covered the first 5 months of 2019 and we know the autumn season is gonna be filled with so many new releases too.

What are some of you guys’ most anticipated releases for 2019? Anyone as impatient for King Of Scars as me? Let me know in the comments down below – I can’t wait to see my TBR for 2019 grow! xD

  1. This is such a great list! I’m also really curious about Again, But Better. I don’t watch the author’s videos at all, but that synopsis, it just sounds so good! And yay for The Devouring Gray, definitely anticipating that one, it sounds SO good! 😀

    1. I’ve been watching her videos pretty much since I discovered booktube (I think) but I think I’d go for this book either way, because I like the synopsis too!

And the more Chrstine Lynn Herman talks about TDG the more I’m like GIVE ME THIS BOOK NOW. I’m at pre-Ace-Of-Shades-Release levels of impatient and excited. xD

  2. The Wicked King and King of Scars must be on everyone’s lists when it comes to most anticipated releases for 2019! . They’ve certainly been on my TBR list since they were announced and I can’t wait to get my hands on them both. Also I loved Ace of Shades so I can’t wait for King of Fools, and easing what you’ve written I can’t wait to meet the girl gang now either! 🙂
Great post, and happy reading! 🙂 ❤️
