12 Highly Anticipated 2019 Releases I Need Right Now

I don’t know about you guys, but for some reason I often find myself adding more and more books to my Anticipated List when I’m not actually get that much reading done – aka me, this entire month so far.

But to make myself feel better about the books I do have on my anticipated list (and to hopefully give me that motivational push), I figured I’d share them with you guys today! And because I can’t get anything done these days without my ongoing BTS soundtrack, here’s the playlist I’m listening to today.

Wait, I just realized that I have talked about some late 2019 releases in an earlier post already – check here! But now, let’s jump right in!

August 2019

Release Date: August 1st, 2019 in the UK, August 6th in the US

Why I’m Excited About This: Characters I liked right away. A Princess fighting to do the right thing. Interesting Character dynamics. Demon hunting.

To be fair, most of what I enjoyed about book one isn’t as fresh in my mind anymore (it’s been well over a year), but I do know I enjoyed it a lot so I’m stoked about the sequel! Check out my thoughts on The Smoke Thieves in this review if you want more information on this series.

Thank you to Penguin for sending me a copy of this book to read and review!

September 2019

Release Date: September 3rd, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: Gritty and dark adult fantasy. Fun narrator and animal companions. Murder. Sex. Mia Corvere. Plot twist after god damn plot twist (y’all. Godsgrave’s ending literally had me yelling).

I honestly never saw myself having a Jay Kristoff book on my anticipated lists after Nevernight but of course, that’s before I ever read Godsgrave. He really pulled me over with that one! I need this finale.

Release Date: September 3rd, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: A main character with a past she doesn’t remember. Nations trying to decide whether or not they should enter a war. Standalone fantasy. Magical ability to tell the future and use rune stones.

This was a book I saw pop up on NetGalley and because I had read the author’s previous novel, I figured I’d give her next one a chance too. I didn’t love Sky In The Deep but I want to see how/if the author improves.

Thank you to Wednesday Books and NetGalley for an early digital copy of this book to read and review.

Release Date: September 3rd, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: The cover pulled me in. The very oppostive lives the main characters live. A chance meeting. Trying to keep a relationship private.

I’m curious to see if I’ll like this story about a celebrity after not loving Daisy Jones & The Six as much as almost everyone else. xD Plus, I feel like this might be the type of book I’ll be able to fly through in one sitting which is always appreciated.

Release Date: September 10th, 2019 (and September 12th, 2019 in the UK)

Why I’m Excited About This: Fake dating. Fake dating. Fake dating.

Honestly, that’s probably what sold me on this book right away. I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope (my friend asked me what kind of fanfiction I wanted to read recently and my only answer was ‘Give me fake dating.’) and will read all the books I can get about it. But this is also the fake dating trope to get your parents off your back who want you to date Korean only and also a chance for the character Frank Li to find out more about himself. Also, I love how the title references the main character’s name too. I love worldplay like that.

Thank you to Penguin for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.

Release Date: September 24th, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: Chosen One’s life after the big battle. Fun dynamic between Simon and Baz. Simon dealing with what he should be feeling versus what is actually going on after that big battle. A road trip?

Ever since I read The Storm Crow I’ve been really wanting more books that pick up shortly after a Big Event and show us the main character dealing with that. And that appears to be exactly what we’re getting here too and I cannot wait!

October 2019

Release Date: October 8th, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: You mean, other than the fact that it’s Leigh Bardugo?! Secret societies. What seems like an undercover mission into these secret societies. There’s been nothing but praise for this already. And again, it’s Leigh Bardugo. I would and will read anything she releases.

Leigh has urged readers to check for trigger warnings and to take care of themselves before, during and while reading this book so please, make sure you do that!

November 2019

Release Date: November 5th, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: A trilogy all about Ronan Lynch. I’ve been excited about this ever since it was teased and revealed. I’m Ronan Lynch trash. It’s titled the Dreamer trilogy so more on Ronan’s (and probably other’s too) dreaming abilities, etc which I’m here for. Hopefully more on Ronan and his love interest.

Here’s the thing though. While I’m incredibly excited about this book and trilogy, I’m also super worried I won’t love it as much as I think I will. I partially blame this on my most recent read through of Blue Lily, Lily Blue which wasn’t what I expected it to be so I’m nervous.

Release Date: November 5th, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: Exciting but also scary world were natural death has been eliminated. Great commentary. Interesting but also super flawed (and evil, like so evil) characters. Little to no romance. Great writing. Easy to fly through. Overall (so far) great series.

I will be starting my reread of this trilogy soon and I absolutely cannot wait. I’m ready to be back in this world and with these characters!

Release Date: November 5th, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: Asian inspired, female/female fantasy with kickass female characters. Interesting world building. Great writing.

And that’s about all I remember about the first book in this series (my memory honest to god sucks) but I’ll probably reread Girls Of Paper And Fire before November to have all the events fresh in my mind before diving into the sequel – it’s what this series deserves. But I’m still really excited and that cover. It’s so pretty.

Release Date: November 5th, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: A Kiersten White written retelling. The Arthurian legend (that I’m not really familiar with, but you might be). Magic. A main character who is hiding something. Once again, a stunning cover.

When I heard about this book, I knew I had to add it to my TBR. Kiersten writes some pretty awesome female characters and I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this as much as I did her The Conqueror’s Saga.

December 2019

Release Date: December 3rd, 2019

Why I’m Excited About This: Um, how about everything?

I’ve honestly been anticipating this book ever since I finished Children Of Blood And Bone and then even more so after my reread. I need more of this world and characters. I was so sad when it was pushed back to December but if that’s what it takes to deliver an awesome book on Tomi’s part, I’m all for it!

Okay, phew. There we have it. 12 anticipated releases for the rest of 2019. Now, I know for a fact that there are other releases that you’re probably wondering how on earth they haven’t made my list (especially if one of them is Supernova): well, if it’s a series and I haven’t read the most recently released book, I don’t add future books to my TBR until it’s up next for me to read.

Now I want to hear from you guys! What are some books for the second half of 2019 that you can’t wait to get your hands on? Any fun new fantasy novels? Or maybe even sci-fis? Let me know! My TBR obviously isn’t filled enough yet. xD
