Hello and long time no see, guys! You may or may not have noticed that I kind of disappeared off this blog for a while there and to be honest, I think I needed a more extensive break. I would come back on here every other day but I just did not feel like writing posts nor did I have any ideas, really.
This year especially has been a bit of a rollercoaster as far as blogging is concerned – I don’t think I’ve ever taken as many breaks as I did this year. Hopefully, I’m actually back for good now – we’ll see. K-pop might pull me right back because that’s still a thing that is happening and now includes two bands. xD

But the main reason that I wanted to write a blog post again was the Gilmore Girls readathon! I saw the video come across my Twitter timeline and I just knew that I had to participate. I love Gilmore Girls a lot. I used to watch the show on loop when it aired here in Germany. They’d air an episode per day and start right over once they’d reached the end of the series. It was glorius, I’m telling you.
Plus, whenever I come across a readathon and I can quickly name books I could read for it, I almost automatically want to join. I’ll leave the Twitter link here for you guys to check out too and if you’d like to join, make sure you do – but you’ll have to hurry. I’m kind of getting to this TBR late.

Challenge: Book With A School Setting & Food On The Cover
With The Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo
I’ve been meaning to read/listen to this book ever since it came out as it was all over the book community receiving a lot of praise – plus, that cover is absolutely stunning! I always love a good audiobook so this will be my first audiobook for the readathon as I don’t own a physical copy (bonus: the audiobook is actually narrated by the author herself!). I also figured it would be nice to have a good mix of contemporary and sci-fi/fantasy books for this TBR to mix things up as I don’t like reading the same genre for too long.
Challenge: A Complicated Mother/Daughter Relationship
Blood Promise by Richelle Mead
The next book I hope to read is Blood Promise so I can continue my reread of the Vampire Academy series (especially since I just found books 1-4 of the spin-off series for cheap and used!) and Rose definitely has a complicated relationship with her mother in the series overall. I’m not sure what their relationship is like in book 4, but I guess we’ll find out! *hides*
Challenge: Cozy Book Set During Fall/Winter
Dash & Lily’s Book Of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
Speaking of books I found for cheap! As I was browsing my go-to website I came across a hardcover of this for just over 1β¬ and I knew that I wanted some winter/Christmas themed books for this year so I grabbed it immediately. Sure, we’re still quite a bit away from Christmas for me to read this, but I don’t mind! It’s relatively short so I’ll be able to fly through it and hopefully motivate myself to read more that way – gotta think ahead here.
Challenge: Book Featuring A Complicated Love Interest
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

I will finally finish my reread of this trilogy. I’ve been putting it off because I know how much that epilogue is gonna make me cry again and just how long and hard the way to that epilogue is. But it’s okay. I’ll bake myself something nice and then cuddle up in bed with that and a coffee and cry as much as I need to. xD It’s gonna be fine.
My one hope of not being as emotionally devastated by this book is the fact that I get to continue this story come March 2020 so this is in a way me getting ready for that – bright side and all that. xD
Challenge: Book By An Asian Author/Featuring Asian Characters
Girls Of Paper And Fire by Natasha Ngan
Thinking of a book for this challenge was actually quite easy as I’ve been meaning to reread Girls Of Paper And Fire anyways so I can dive right into the sequel which comes out in November and I’m quite excited about! I did really enjoy this the first time around and can’t wait to see where I land after this reread! Plus, not only is this written by an Asian author, this book also features a lot of Asian characters so I’m ticking off both things mentioned in the challenge!
Challenge: Next Book In A Series
Iron Gold by Pierce Brown
The last book I want to read for this readathon is Iron Gold. I have already started this (I’m somewhere around the 100 page mark, I think?) but haven’t had the motivation to continue reading so hopefully this readathon is gonna give me exactly that. My initial plan had been to get caught up with this series in time for the realease of Dark Age (aka end of July) but I was both too deep into my k-pop rabbit hole and kind of not feeling like picking up books. xD But, I think I’m ready to dive back into reading – gotta work ahead before BTS announce a comeback and take up all my time again.

There we have it, my TBR for the Gilmore Girls readathon! I really hope I can get to all of these books (I’ll definitely take advantage of audiobooks where I can to help me read more quickly) and hopefully a few others too (October is kind of supposed to be my months of rereads with all the sequels dropping in November) to help me complete my 2019 reading challenge – I have 9 books left to read!
Are any of you guys participating in this readathon too and if so, what are you reading? Also, since we had a mention of complicated love interests – who is your favorite complicated love interest? Doesn’t have to be Gilmore Girls if you haven’t seen the show. Mine is definitely Jess! Teenage!me had a thing for the bad boy characters and that never really changed. π

These are great choices, especially With the Fire on High! I’ve read the physical book & the audio & both are excellent. I will also be taking part in this readathon. I love GG so much!
